In the episode, "Softball", Dennis tells a story about a baseball bat flying
from Jack's hand. The bat fell 23 stories to the sidewalk.

In a number of episodes, Jack's office window opens. Wouldn't a tall
building with any significant number of windows that opened be an
architecturally and physically unsound nightmare? I think all of the tall
buildings I've been in have sealed windows.

Is it a sitcom's reality-bending or are there really such buildings?

Every window in the Empire State Building opens.

Ah, maybe a lot of the buildings out this way, the San Francisco Bay Area,
have newer buildings without opening windows.

Well, no. most of 'em do. But not at the ground level, and not from 86 (the
observation level) up.

Are you remembering this from the original telecast? I saw this ep in
syndication and I don't remember the mention of the bat falling 23
floors at all.

(Nice to see this group is still here)

By the way what about the ep where they drop a water balloon on Jack's
head (wasn't that Nina's Bikini)?

That wasn't any 23 floors I don't think.

Nope, I'm not remembering from the original telecast. I probably wasn't
watching Just Shoot Me at the time. I saw "Softball" last week. Dennis
clearly mentioned the bat fell 23 floors and injured someone on the
sidewalk.

I thought this was going to be a post about the idea of an object as
small as a penny being dropped from (Toronto's) C.N. Tower would pick up
such speed it could kill a person... but I think you have a point, too.
